Sigma Alpha Sigma – Hofstra University

Tau Epsilon Phi is Hofstra University’s oldest and first fraternity, with roots to the local Sigma Alpha Sigma (SAS) fraternity started in 1949 and was chartered as TEΦ on May 4, 1969. TEΦ has been well known to be a heavily philanthropy oriented fraternity from cancer walks to seizure awareness walks to always being active on campus in several student leadership offices and jobs of leadership. The chapter may not be the largest, but has had some of the greatest impacts around Hofstra University and the surrounding community. The SAS chapter has worked with other local chapters, like our brothers at Queens College, and our 60-year list of alumni to strengthen and learn from to always better ourselves. The chapter received Hofstra University’s “Chapter of the Year” in spring 2024, and received Tau Epsilon Phi’s “Most Improved Chapter” in October 2024. As the chapter rebuilds, restructures, and revitalizes itself, we hope to bring in new brothers that will continue the legacy.
