The Tau Omega Alumni Association (TOAA) hosted its annual golf tournament on June 6th at Elmridge Golf Club in Pawcatuck, Connecticut. The TOAA invited members from all stages of the Tau Omega chapter, both active and alumni, and extended the invitation to national staff members, like myself. They welcomed me with open arms, and I had a fantastic day playing golf and talking about the different experiences we’ve all had as brothers.
The tournament kicked off around noon, with groups staggered 10 minutes apart. The 4-man scramble included fun extras, including two closest-to-the-pin competitions and a longest drive contest during each group’s round. Every group had a blast, especially after arriving back at the pro shop to find a “putt for a prize” mini-game waiting for us.
Once each group returned to the pro shop, we met in the banquet room to socialize and have dinner. Prepared for us was a freshly cooked steak on the grill and a loaded baked potato bar.
This annual outing means so much to the members of the TOAA, as it is a way to stay connected with the brothers they made lifelong memories with and bond with the younger generations of the Tau Omega chapter. This year’s outing raised over $3,700 for educational and developmental opportunities for the undergraduates of the Tau Omega Chapter through various fundraising efforts.
As a first-time attendee, I can’t wait for next year’s tournament.
